Stanley Engineered Fastenings visit New Production Cell
Following several H&T Excellence events and months of planning, H&T Industrial (HTI) opened the doors to its latest, dedicated production cell. Designed exclusively for one of HTI’s key accounts, Stanley Engineered Fastenings (SEF), the newly implemented production cell has been developed to drive improvements in efficiency.
HTI has been supplying high-volume, precision components to SEF since 2008 (originally supplying Emhart Teknologies prior to SEF acquiring the business in 2013).
A contract between SEF and HTI led to 87 component variants being manufactured at HTI’s state-of-the-art facility in Blackburn, Lancashire.
The factory layout has changed significantly since the start of the partnership between the two companies and HTI has continually demonstrated its commitment through investment in new presses, tooling, test equipment and to the roll-out of high technology OEE software.
It was with great pleasure that HTI invited a number of guests from SEF’s UK facility to attend a showcase on the 16th of January, 2020.
Mr AP, Global Sourcing Manager for SEF said of the visit, “It’s been a great showcase organized by ‘H&T Industrial Blackburn’ on the new ‘Stanley Engineered Fastening’ Production Cell and it was great for us to see the dedication, improvements and investments put in place to support SEF’s drive to continuous business growth now and in years to come. An excellent example of a collaborative event where both teams shared ideas & best practices, with focus on continuous improvements on cost, eliminating ‘waste’, on-time-delivery, lead time reduction, production flexibility – a great example of focus on customer satisfaction, not competition”
Three new presses have replaced less efficient, larger presses and has had the additional benefit of freeing up floor space enabling HTI’s Quality Assurance team to position its testing equipment closer to production, helping HTI to continue on its ever evolving lean manufacturing journey.
The new SEF production cell has been created to positively impact on waste reduction, especially in the movement of human resource between machines. Tool sets have also been moved to be near the presses and additional tooling offers manufacturing flexibility and quicker set-up times.
Increasing capacity by the elimination of constraints will allow HTI to react quicker to short notice increases in demand from SEF as they strive to achieve their strategic vision” 22/22” ($22Bn turnover by 2022).
HTI is committed to helping SEF successfully achieve its ambitious growth targets by delivering on-time, in-full always.
HTI, considers customer satisfaction to be its main priority and strives to exceed customer expectations.
The company is very proud of the commitment it makes to its customers and it’s always a pleasure to welcome a delegation to its Blackburn facility. HTI and its staff would like to thank SEFfor their continued trust and words of encouragement for the high level of work completed in production to support their growth plans.
If you would like to find out how HTI, a precision engineering company could help you with your high-volume, precision deep-drawn components, please get in touch at any time.
